Alltech China Pig and Poultry Symposium to explore innovative nutritional technologies

[CHENGDU, Sichuan] – The Alltech China Pig & Poultry Symposium is held October 11–13, 2023, in Chengdu, Sichuan. The event convenes agricultural and livestock experts and industry leaders from both the domestic and international markets, providing a platform for industry professionals to learn and exchange ideas. Topics of discussion revolved around the challenges faced by the pig and poultry farming industry in China, exploring how innovative nutritional technologies can address these challenges and help producers seize opportunities for industry growth.

China, as the world’s largest producer of pigs and a major producer of poultry as well, has seen animal farming serve as an economic cornerstone. However, in recent years, the industry has faced significant pressure both domestically and internationally. The global supply chain has seen massive disruption, resulting in a substantial rise in production costs, and challenges such as animal diseases and antibiotic bans have added pressure and impacted profitability. In addition, increased demand for environmental sustainability has added complexity across the industry.

This year’s symposium theme is “Heng” (恒), which in Chinese culture carries the meaning of perseverance, consistency, inheritance and sustainability. By focusing on our inner strengths, we can persevere in our industry and eventually enjoy the fruits of our labor. Only by persisting can we accumulate strength for growth.

Keynote speakers for the event include Dr. Huiyi Cai of the Institute of Feed Research at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Dr. Daiwen Chen of Sichuan Agricultural University; Zengguang Ding, senior vice president of Chia Tai Conti and president of the livestock business division; Dr. Ling Liu of China Agricultural University; and Ping Yu, chairman of Sichuan Tianzow and founder and designer of Yu’s Design.

Panel discussions and launch of new nutritional technology

 (morning of October 13)

The panel and launch event are the highlights of the symposium. Participants collectively explore opportunities for agricultural transformation and gain insights into Alltech’s new Poultry Trace Mineral Pack, which supports sustainable poultry farming solutions. As China’s middle class continues to grow, the demand for high-quality and safe meat and egg products is on the rise. This presents a massive market opportunity for the livestock industry, requiring continual improvement in product quality to meet market demands.
